Morocco villa and regional information

With its heady scent of the spices, vibrantly colourful bazaars teeming with people, lilting music and culture then this is Morocco! An ancient land that looks like it has just stepped out of the Arabian Nights. Morocco may not be classically beautiful, but its vibrant appeal is hard to resist.

Agadir is Southern Morocco's most visited city and a very popular tourist destination. There are beautiful parks, luscious gardens as well as the Souks and old Medina. The long sandy beach is swept every morning and kept spotlessly clean. The south end of the main beach has jet-skis for rental. Alternatively, dry activities like horse & camel riding, quad biking and beach buggies are also available and very popular. Stroll along the wide promenade where there are a number of bars and café's selling drinks and renting out sun-beds and umbrellas. Further south is Aglou Plage with it’s beach cafes and restaurants whilst nearby there are opportunities to enjoy activities including windsurfing, deep sea fishing, hang gliding, horse riding, camel riding and quad biking all available locally. Freshly caught fish is available daily from the harbour from sole to squid. The local town of Tiznit, with its famous Silver Souk, and medina is worth a visit as is Mirleft with its laid back attitude and good Berber market.

Marrakech is a lively buzzing city which is teeming with life. Snake charmers, magic potions, Henna painters and hidden palaces: Marrakech brings the most outlandish travellers' tales to life. The focal point of Marrakech is its celebrated square, the Jemaa el Fna. Towering over the scene is the stately Koutoubia minaret, a reminder of the importance of Islam to the lives of the city's residents. A mysterious labyrinthine medina, colourful bazaars, the aroma of sizzling Moroccan delicacies: these are the experiences one can expect from a holiday in Marrakech. Further north is the adorable town of Essaouira with its blue & white painted houses, excellent food, medina and the harbour. Jimi Hendrix was a big fan of the town of Essaouira, which he visited in the sixties during his travels of Morocco, prior to the arrival of another great music legend, Bob Marley.

Go early in the morning to see the catch come in and then wander to many of the cafes for your morning coffee. Freshly caught fish and seafood is a speciality here as well as many restaurants cooking excellent Moroccan tajines and couscous. The long sandy beach is perfect for families with miles of sand for children to play. Venture further north towards Casablanca and you will find Oualidia with its fabulous lagoon and long sandy beach. The town is small but big in impact and a surfer’s paradise. Fresh caught oysters and spider crab are a speciality here and a perfect accompaniment with a delicious Moroccan salad. This jewel of the coast has relaxing atmosphere and perfect for families with a surf school, mountain biking, water sports and tennis.

A tip from our Area Manager, Gill: There are not enough words for me to say about Morocco. Since I first visited 6 years ago, and revisited 8 times now, I have totally fallen in love with this wonderful country. The hustle and bustle of the towns to the Medina’s bursting with local produce, meat and fish plus the odd camel’s feet on the counter! This diversity is what is so wonderful about Morocco. One minute you are in the old Medina’s and the next you are in an amazing villa right on the beach. Knowing the country personally, I am happy to offer any guidance you may need in exploring Morocco and hopefully my enthusiasm will rub off on you!
